As a former primary teacher, Laura understands the stress faced by teachers, students and support staff in our schools. After experiencing the pressures of teaching as a graduate, Laura realised she needed to find a way to support herself internally and lower her stress levels, in order to prevent overwhelm and burnout. This led her to gestalt therapy, mindfulness and meditation. Laura has over twelve years of experience in meditation and mindfulness practice. She has been teaching mindfulness to groups for three years, both in private courses and in corporate environments. Laura has now developed mindfulness programs specifically tailored for educators and their students. 100% of Laura’s graduates say they would recommend this course to others.
Tom is a former primary school principal with over twenty years experience in education.
Mindfulness for Teachers: Through their combined thirty years experience in education, Laura and Tom understand the pressures that teachers are under and the increasing rates or fatigue and burnout. Our workshops and courses are an invaluable personal development resource for staff, helping them to access the best version of of themselves, the benefits of which, extend to the workplace and community.
Our programs focus on two main areas:
The development of mindfulness:
The development of mindfulness is a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions, sensations and environment.
The Development of Heartfulness
The intentional nurturing of positive mind states such as kindness and compassion.
Mindfulness has many proven benefits.
Strengthens our "mental muscle" for bringing focus back where we want it, when we want it.
Observing our emotions helps us recognize when they occur, to see their transient nature, and to change how we respond to them.
Becoming aware of our patterns enables us to gradually change habitual behaviors wisely.
Awareness of our own thoughts, emotions, and senses grows our understanding of what other people are experiencing.
Breathing and other mindfulness practices relax the body and mind, giving access to peace independent of external circumstances.
Seeing things objectively reduces the amount of narrative we add to the world's natural ups and downs, giving us greater balance.
Our programs are secular and science-based, but with these universal themes (awareness, kindness and compassion), our programs can also be tailored to compliment your religious education program.
